Russia. Military equipment of World War I

On September 10, 2015 Post of Russia issued four stamps dedicated to domestic military equipment in the "History of the First World War" series. The stamps represent: bomber "Ilya Muromets"; 7.62 mm Mosin rifle; 76.2 mm field rapid-firing gun; destroyer "Novik".

First World War marked the development of the tactics of warfare, appearance of new weapons and equipment - aircrafts, tanks, automatic weapons, powerful artillery.

Destroyer "Novik" joined the Baltic Fleet in October 1913. It was the first turbine warship in the history of the Russian Navy. It set a world speed record. The destroyer could take 50 anchor mines on board. By the beginning of World War I it was the best ship in its class. These warships were used in World War II as well.

"Ilya Muromets" is the joint name of several series of solid wood four-engine biplanes, produced in Russia at the Russian-Baltic wagon factory during 1913-1918. The aircraft set a number of records of carrying capacity, number of passengers, time and the maximum altitude. During the war, Russian army received 60 such biplanes. The squadron made 400 sorties, dropped 65 tons of bombs and destroyed 12 enemy fighters.

 

 

 

 

4.[5]Field rapid-gun model 1902, also known as "trehdyuymovka", was developed at the Putilov factory in St. Petersburg. It was actively used in the Russian-Japanese War, World War I, the Civil War in Russia and in other armed conflicts involving the countries of the former Russian Empire (the Soviet Union, Poland, Finland and so on). A modernized version of the gun was used in the beginning of World War II.

 

 

 

7.62mm rifle model 1891 (Mosin rifle, trehlineyka) is a repeating rifle, adopted by the Russian Imperial Army in 1891. It was actively used in the period from 1891 to the end of the Second World War, during which it was modernized many times. It was relatively simple and reliable with a precise shooting range. The rifle has been produced by the Soviet army almost to the end of the World War II and was in use until the end of the 1970s.
