Russia. Coats of arms of Kostroma and Kostroma region

On November 5, 2015 Post of Russia will issue a souvenir sheet with one stamp which illustrates the coat of arms of the city of Kostroma. The issue belongs to the "Coats of arms of cities and federal subjects of the Russian Federation" series. The coat of arms of the Kostroma region and map of the Russian Federation, with the region highlighted on it are illustrated on the sidelines of the souvenir sheet.

The coat of arms of Kostroma region was adopted in 2006. Golden ship symbolizing “movement, reaching the goal” figuratively represents the Kostroma region which has convenient geographic location. Forestry, agriculture, power generation and mechanical engineering, textile industry are the priority directions of development of the region. Kostroma’s historical coat of arms was approved in 1767. It illustrates a ship sailing on the waves of the Volga River. The modern version of the official coat of arms of the city was adopted in 2002.
