Russia - DPRK. 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation

On August 28, 2015 Post of Russia will issue a stamp dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation in a joint issue with the DPRK. The stamp illustrates the Arc de Triomphe in Pyongyang which symbolizes the victory over the Japanese occupation.
15th of August, 1945 is the day when Korea was liberated by the Soviet army together with the armed forces of the Korean people who fought against the Japanese occupation forces. Manchurian strategic offensive operation began on 9 August 1945. Arc de Triomphe symbolizing the victory was built in Pyongyang in memory of these events. 15th of August is celebrated as the Independence Day of Korea or "Liberation of Fatherland Day".
