On September 2, 2015 Post of Russia issued a stamp dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. The stamp illustrates Lieutenant General K. Derevyanko during the signing of the Japanese capitulation aboard on the US battleship "Missouri" in Tokyo Bay.
The Second World War (01.09.1939 - 02.09.1945) was the biggest armed conflict in the history of mankind. The fighting took place on the territory of three continents and four oceans. Around 110 million soldiers from all warring countries participated in it, more than 65 million died. The Second World War covered 40 states. It has radically changed the international situation and became a tragic lesson for the peoples of the world.
