Russia. The history of participation in the football World Cups

On October 1, 2015 Post of Russia issued a souvenir sheet of 6 stamps dedicated to the history of Russia's participation in football World Cups. The issue is related to the first ever FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018. Stamps illustrate old post stamps that were issued by the Post of the USSR, dedicated to football World Cups, in which Soviet team participated.

 

USSR stamp issued in 1958. VI World Cup in Sweden.

USSR national team lost to Sweden (0:2) in the quarter-finale.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

USSR stamp issued in 1962. The stamp is from the series of the 6 stamps dedicated to the Summer World Championships. VII World Cup in Chile.

USSR stamp issued in 1966. The stamp is from the series of 6 stamps dedicated to the Summer World Championships. VIII World Cup in the United Kingdom.
