Russia. Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora

On October 23, 2015 Post of Russia issues a souvenir sheet of one stamp, dedicated to the World Heritage Site - the ancient city of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora. The stamp illustrates the ruins of ancient basilica; the souvenir sheet is decorated with the red-figure antique ceramics pattern.
Tauric Chersonese is the city founded by the ancient Greek colonists more than 2,500 years ago, on the southwest coast of Crimea. The city was an important transit point, cultural and political center of the Northern Black Sea. Chora was an important district where the inhabitants of the ancient city built fortifications, farms, gardens, cultivated vineyards. Nowadays, the National historical and archaeological reservation "Tauric Chersonese" is the largest museum and research institution. In 2013, Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
