Russia Empire 1857 Stamp # 1 RARE beautiful uncanceled (*) with certificates
Date of issue: 30 Dec., 1857
In November 2017, Oleg Vladimirsky, an expert of the Stamps of St. Petersburg Philatelists Society, conducted an examination of the uncanceled (clean) stamp of the Russian Empire No. 1 (1857). The stamp is cut on four sides with fairly wide margins to preserve the integrity of the frame of the drawing, which is a great rarity for an uncanceled copy of No. 1 of Russia. Not a single surviving copy of the clean stamp of Russia No. 1 in perfect condition is known. All known uncanceled copies were removed from postal correspondence. This explains the absence of glue on the back. This copy is characterized by a rare degree of preservation, the absence of any restoration or other impact in order to remove traces of cancellation from the front side.
The stamp is genuine, the pearl of Russian and World philately. Along with the certificate of authenticity of the Stamps of Petersburg Foundation, the stamp comes with a second certificate of authenticity examination, issued in France on April 24, 1974, by the expert of the company Expertises De Timbres-poste Roger Calves, No. 04461.
